Hi MS. Chicken,
Read back a bit.
This all happened (started to happen) when my son turned 23. Wife was on and off welfare. I sent more than the dang C.S. payments. Something went wrong in their record keeping at the KGB.
Oh yea, stay with her??? 46k ain't so bad.
This took place 8 years after my last "payment" to the L.A. KGB.
Not the worst story though.
I learned of other guys being made to pay for children that weren't even theirs. Mom say it's not his kid, testing says it's not his kid. But, they make guys pay anyway. Even guys who pay to help out a new girlfriend, being kind and helpful, get roped into paying "legal" support. Just because they were helping already. Some cases had college and other expences thrown in, making some guys pay till the kids finish college.
Canada??? Don't you all live in igloos up there???:) What we need to do down here is build a wall to keep the cold air and nothern hosers from coming down. EEEhhh??? :D
Hose off Ehhh!:D:D:cool::cool:

We actually got along well, she helped as best she could with the issue. L.A. wanted to hear nothing, didn't care about my records, just wanted money. This all happened after I left Ca. and L.A.
HEY!!! isn't this Als thread on porcelain or something?

Labguy I just saw YOUR new commander and cheif get off Airforce 1 in Canada. It looked miserable there. Dark and grey, wet and cold with snow everywhere. Everybody was wrapped in furs.

It's okay, it may be dreary outside but it stays pretty lively inside......hint hint....lol

P.S. I didn't vote for him!!!! darn socialist.

Is the occlusal white/snow capping porc similar to effect 3 or 4 from d.SIGN?
What do you use on your second bake?

Are you using inline on your anteriors as well?

Thanks for the great information Al. Its nice to see this kind of work being created.

Edit: Do you add the white/snow capping porc to all your posterior crown regardless of the shade?

"Opal Effect 4" in inline is what I use. I used to use willceram porc before it was discontinued and they had what was called "snowcap".
I use inline for all my pfms.
For second bakes I use OE4 and incisal depending what it needs. It dosent look good to carry it over the buccal incisal edge of uppers but I do on lowers.
Go light on dark shades like A4 and C4 because that white stands out against them but light shades like B1 A1 you cant hardly over do it. Go moderate on the inbetween shades.

I use it on all posteriors. It dosent change the shade. Most posteriors I have seen dont have a lot of translucency. Alot of the enamel on the occlusal is worn off. Also alot of posteriors have limited space and with a body and incisal build it just dosent mask out the opaque on the occlusal. And the occlusal is all you see on a lower molar.
Look at an cusp built out of incisal porc on a crown from a slight distance and you wont be able to tell if it is a cusp or if it is flat unless you move it around to see the light reflect off it. But if it is highlighted with white porc in spots, it really stands out. I can tell it is a cusp. Doing this I dont have to rely on alot of deep grooves to see anatomy. Also it really contrasts against the darker underlying porc and I dont need to use as much stain.
When I put a little cervical porc in the central fossa and have a little body on top of that then the white incisal on top of that it really masks out the opaque. Alot of molars I see have more of a bone look to them.

Try it out but leave off building in the anatomy at first and see how it works for you. Just err on the side of underdoing it till you see what works so you dont have to grind it off.
Look at that glazed crns they dont have alot of anatomy, except for one of the upper molars it just looks like they do because of the colors.

I have got to see your Spatula Al

Hey Al,

I am shopping around trying to find a good buildup Spatula. Like you mentioned above.
I have No IDEA what the one you use looks like. Can you take a pic of it?
Tanaka was before my time. Been a tech for 12 years. My Dad actually took one of his porcelain buildup classes years ago.

I'm also looking for better porcelain control brushes and so far I haven't found one I really like. What type are you using? The ones Ive used always loose their tip and form very quickly.

I come from A 'Dry stack from the bottle method background' but it can be more time consuming because of the reduced volume of material you can move with a brush.

I really want to give your method a try. Thanks so much.

Great! Im pretty excited to try something new.
Your Technique will definitely fit the bill.

Are you using a Renfert Tropicana mixing tray? Any opinion on it?
My Lab gets pretty warm and dry by mid afternoon and I wondered if any one had an opinion on it.

Thanks Al !!

Justin I have the tropicana tray. Ive had it for about 3 yrs now before that I had other brands they were smaller and had a sponge in the bottom.
I dont have any problems in the winter but during the summer you need to put the ceramic tray in a cold burnout furnace and run it up to about 1500 F and shut the furnace off and mabey crack the door. But let it cool till you can touch it. There are instructions that come with it. I do it about once every 2 months + -.
I use build up liquid to help hold the shape of the porc.
If you find a good brush let me know. Ive been using the Renfart brushes but they dont hold their tip well and after the tip is gone they dont hold a flat shape well to contour. If I used them for my entire buildups I dont think they would last 2 weeks.

Heres my spatulas the ends are thin and a bit flexable. Im looking to order some new ones, let me know what you find. They were both as wide at the tip as they are at the base when they were new. I got about 10 yrs out of that worn one. I never realized how worn it was till I order a new one.

I dont think so. I bought them as porc spatulas. The serrated part is for condensing/vibrating otherwise you tap.
That top one is worn from 15 yrs of mixing and building.
That is why they always recommend you use plastic to mix. I guess you put metal in your porc? But your talking about several thousand crowns so I doubt there would be enough metal in each to be noticable. It would me microscopic.

I cant find anyting I like in the catalogs Im going to have to go to a trade show for replacements.
