My wife and I finished our Valentines gift to each other (finally). A new kitchen table with benches. I built the table and 2 benches, she stained them and put the polyurethane on them, and we finally got to eat on it last night

Its just pine. Its all brand new and I distressed them (really just beat the crap out of them) with a hammer (both ends),chain, used an awl to make "cracks" down the wood, and saw on you tube somebody make a paddle with a bunch of screws through it for good wormholes. When I was sanding it down, I would take the hammer to the edges and then go to town with the sander to get some real nice grooves and such.

I'm the piano player, but its been out of commission for a couple of years. F sharp went out, so being the bright guy I am, I figured I could pull the action out and fix it. Now there's about 8 keys that won't play

2x10 pine boards ?
Good eye. Four 2x10x8s for the tabletop, two 2x8x7 for the benches. We were going to put 2x6 on the ends, but when I got it assembled we thought it would give it too much of a finished look, we really wanted it to look rustic.

Minwax Polyshades Mission Oak
Minwax Early American stain?
Minwax Polyshades Mission Oak. It came down between those two however, but we have darker cabinets and the piano color, so we were scared to make it too light.

I really wanted to, I was gonna tell people that we searched high and low for barn wood that had the same initials as ours carved into it. Instead, I just did a heart underneath with our initials and Valentines 2016.

I installed a water softener on Saturday. Lots of copper pipe, solder, fittings, no leaks or issues. Success!
While my wife and daughter slept in on Sunday morning my son and I went to the Nature and Science Museum. After the museum we shared a traditional Irish Breakfast of eggs, rashers, sausage, white pudding, black pudding, mushrooms...and a Guinness.

I'd have to trade the white and black pudding for grilled tomatoes.
