Do you print the tripod or do you use the articulator attachment?
I never liked the tripod,if I recall, the bites were high.
I switched to the overpriced 3 shape articulator with great results.

Not model with removable die

I get trios scan Everyday. The bite is out on the majority of scans. There are always intrusions. I've resorted to designing with an open occlusion and then re articulating the printed models and grinding in the bite.
That doesn't sound very efficient. And they want to go model less...

sweet

removable dies are nice but I found that there was a little play in the fit.
I switched to solid and use the separate die to finish my margins.

You have the luxury of tweeking the fits where as I am outsourceing.

So the occlusion from your triple tray model scans are ok? just Trios bites are off.

Well was one that came in as two seperate quad scans
Not together like the others.
Will talk to the Dr

If you can, I'd suggest you drop in on a few scans. The experience is invaluable.
I always remind them that when they are scanning, they are building my models .

You can also set them up with a 3 shape communicate app for their phones.
That way you can view the scans when you are sitting in your blind.

Just a couple of misc tips Al, when designing crowns/bridges, the Preview button at the top left is your friend. Great for when you mark your margins will bring up a "die spacer" look, to help you visualize your margin marking better. Also, when designing linguals full contour on anteriors (Anatomical coping) to visualize in solid color where it, your margin line will end. You can then move the line more, hit preview again as needed.

Maybe this will help sometime down the road?

edit:sp...to many "betters" in 1 sentence ;)

Ugh grinding in the bite
I think better leave out off occ them layer some occlusal contacts ?

Kind of defeats the purpose of full mono crown then.

Yes. It's not efficient at all but then again, it still beats building vmks and still having to grind the bite in.

absolutely

I do most of my crowns through Trios scans. Never a bite issue on my end.
Are you seeing open bites in your software? ( exocad I assume)
Is the dentist or the assistant taking the scans?

I will sometimes see a funky bite come in. I will call to verify what I see. If no then the dr can resend.
Can your optimize the bite in your software?

Do you get intrusions at all? I always get intrusions of up to 0.2mm some times. I don't see how that can physically happen.

I get the odd one but they don't seem to create a high bite.
Using the virtual articulator to adapt the designs works well.

Are you able to post up a few screen shots of a few scans so that I can show my clients what they should look out for?
