Crown removal

I had the porcelain on an implant crown break. The Dr. sent back case with the crown on the implant. Is there and easy way to remove old crown from the titanium abutment without cutting it off. Heating perhaps? Any thoughts?

Try heating it with a butane torch...
Then yank er off...

Or you could fire them at like 600c and burn the cement out.

How did the doctor remove everything with the crown stuck to the implant?

Leave it on a tray that is on the platform of an open porcelain oven at about 800 degrees F for 15-20 minutes. This will likly work. You may need to elevate the crown close to the muffle.

Thanks for the help. I put it on a tray and put it in 600C oven for about 45 seconds. It came right off.

Haha nice. So you'll be making a screw retained crown out of this coping? Or what's left of it? Why dont you want to damage this coping? Or what's left of it anyway. Why can't you cut it off?

Hybrid abutments would have the same problem,do you think its best to let the dentist cement to the ti base,or do it in the lab?Just thinking it would be a pain if you had to add to a contact

I think you meant the abutment. If the implant was removed, no point redoing the crown . . .
unless there is some new technique I am not aware of.
