I've been doing a fair few lately where the doc verifies the abutment teeth are still vital and the frame is in good shape. Just get them to shoot imp material under the saddles like for a reline, do a bite reg, and then pickup impression. Grind everything off and start like it's new.

Anyone else seeing many of these requests?

do you end up bending or dinging the frame in this process?

if you notice a porosity do you do something about it ?

If you are aware of what you're doing and not in a fog there is very little chance of dinging any of the metal.
Bending on the other hand is a constant possibility if you just start pulling on a frame that's in any impression, even alginate.

If there is a issue with the frame like porosity in the metal it's one that they had at it's 'birth' as a frame and it should have been noted at the time.
I call any defect to their attention before doing the waxup over the frame.

Not if you're careful. Depends on the scope of what you've been told to do; but if it's in a casting I have nothing to do with... most likely not. Either time or finances usually get in the way.
