3D Box Scanners

Just curious to know if these Dental Box scanners (3shape, 3M, DOF, etc) can be used/adapted to scan items other than dental models.

Perhaps used in Rhinoceros, or other 3D software?

Ok, long(er) answer: every scanner outputs some sort of 3d data, its up the the users aptitude to make it usable in a non-dental context... Some scanners are integrated into their software suite making their use tied to licensing and other limitations, other scanners come with their own stand-alone scan program...some even provide an SDK to integrate it into you own app if you like...
