Pretty easy...

I wish Two things were different, so I changed them.

I have a good idea why mine failed, but anyway....

Test printing tonight.

Our prints should be much smoother where the support wax touches the part material.

I tried to re-surface a large "bump" or protrusion on my roller while I waited for parts.

The internal heater was c0ck-eyed and rubbing on one spot on internal of roller.

After many heat cycles...the roller developed a blister, or bulge.

I could hear it....thup thump thump thump.....

I am using the White hard plastic/Nylon/Delrin? scraper and not the metal one provided.

The roller has a coating on the cross-hatched texture that is to wick-up extra material as it flattens each layer.

Scott.

(I had a couple beers....time to go home)

If any of you try this, save all old parts.

There is a little spacer/bearing thingy smashed deep inside the roller you have to get out. Not very clear in any 3D Systems pics.

Heat the roller with flame, and tap it out.

(internal heater assembly)
My Black plastic to Metal junction was all F'd-up, so I resurfaced the metal and plastic to have nice joining surface, and to try and keep heater straight and level and not to touch the innerwalls of roller.

I think whoever built this has those two parts not aligned correctly to begin with.

I used Diamond Model trimmer in Model & Die room to grind the plastic (with water) and the Metal.

They had nasty angle on the mating surfaces. Obviously not straight. From the factory.

I absolutly HATE/LOVE these machines!

POS that I HAVE to keep running.

I'd still buy another one, and am always looking for a used one.

There is nothing better, when they work correctly.

IT's just very frustrating to have issues when printing for Thirty labs at once. Many phone calls!

I need a few more printers! Always to have one on stand-by?

Now, I go back to trying to solve support cartridge problems.

I think the actual tubes and the shape/material of plastic are to blame. At the nozzle end. The needle housing could also be modified IMO?

I am currently modifying the nozzle ends of my support tubes.

Printer is running like a sewing machine.

I'm sure people will notice the improvement.

Thanks to 3D Systems for helping me get running again!

Good company.

My printer is not new, and all machines require parts and service.

So far, it has not been bad during the past few years. We do use the printer everyday since we had it. Stuff happens. I'm not bitch'n.

Monday we ran printer with Nylon/Delrin wiper-blade on the Planerizer.

Parts looked good.

Tuesday, I switched the wiper to the Metal one.

It is better. Exterior of crowns that touch the White Support material is smoother, but I am concerned about the lifespan of the new planerizer.

Only one way to find out. Beat the snot out of it and see how long it lasts!

One Year? Two, Three?

You seem to have a great deal of knowledge on how these printers work. We have had two DP3000 in production for just over a year, and have had a great deal of problems. One of them has had more issues than the other. We are at the point of discussing our service agreement, and I saw your post from another thread regarding the maintenance. Do you offer any kind of PM training? Please contact me if this is something you would be interested in helping us with (800-367-3322 ask for Bob). Thanks!

We will be in NY in few months for LMT show.

I can train and support you to fix your own printer then, or you can come down here and play with mine at any time.

Maybe I will call, and help you if possible by phone today??

No answer....?

I tried to find your voice mail, and am guessing you are Robert Weigand?

No mailbox found for Bob, or Robert, or Weigand.

If you are there, you are welcome to call me back? Should be the last 10 calls on your caller I.D. LOL

Sorry Scott. I was here until 5:30 last night, and I'm not sure why you couldn't at least get through to my voicemail. My direct extension is 120. We could definitely make arrangements to meet you at the Lab Day show, but would like to at least talk to you by phone to explain some of the issues we have been having. I appreciate you trying to get in touch....maybe we will have better luck today....you can also email me at [email protected]. Thanks!!!

There's no difference on the nylon in comparism to the metal planerizer imho, exept the lifetime!
But u have to be careful on which machine u are going to exchange it! Currently, there are 2 different printhead-types on the market (Config A & B) which needs to be set-up in different ways with the planerizer adjustment!

What would you do with rev. A vs/ B??

The function of planerizer should be the exact same, regardless? No?

Maybe you are talking about the offset from roller to array plate distance? I bet that is what you are talking about.

I just go as low as possible without scrubbing the parts. Roller is barely below the array plate, and both parallel to plate of course.

I also did not notice much of an improvement after swapping roller and blade.
