We have been printing our own digital model work for years now and as of recently we have been having problems with implant model work specifically, and for the most part it only affects a couple of our accounts. One of our doctors sends most of their cases back for contact add-ons (they are using the Prime scan with Neodent scanbodies, and we use the Neodent analogs and Ti-bases) its to the point where our model work is showing the opposite of what's in the mouth (ex. mesial is open in the mouth but on the model the distal is open)
But more recently we have had more problems with one specific account where in 3 cases (1 Straumann, 1 Neodent and 1 Neoss) the scanbodies were off a fraction of a turn. All were scanned with an Itero (Itero is involved in trying to figure it out, but are slow) but they were off to a degree that shouldn't be possible. The Neodent case was especially odd because it had 2 units, 8&9, and one was off and the other was dead on. But each of the cases resulted in a Remake (the Neodent one had to resort to a conventional impression to finish it, because the 2nd scan was exactly like the first with the scanbody facing a different direction.
Has anyone else had any issues like this, or any idea what the problem might be? We've been wracking our brains trying to figure this out and I'm at a loss. I work in the CAD department but have very little to do with the 3d Printers and the Model Work. But any insight would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!
