Hi All,

I have read with interest this thread which has turned into "scanner technology/accuracy" discussion.
No issue with that, but I would like to get your opinion on how important it is for a lab to have a scanner which is fully capable and accurate to scan complex implant cases with multiple units.
I would argue unless the laboratory is highly specialised these cases would only account to a small propotion of the overall cases produced in the lab.

Instead of investing $50.000-$200.000 as suggested here, what is the main objection to sending the model to be scanned in a central facility like Panthera Dental offers?
Is the main objection sending the model away or is it the ability to design locally in the lab?
The latter could be solved by getting the model scanned centrally and then using a design software locally to finalize the design.

For crown & bridge, abutments and small unit implant bridges it's another story and I fully understand the need to scan and design inhouse.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts

***-

Sure you can always find expensive white light scanners that are great like the Comet5 Eco 11M. This will surely make a good scanning system and you. You will need to find a use for the small supercomputer when your not scanning.

Congrats Bernard!
5 days turn around for bars? That's about 25 days faster than Nobel Biocare! I imagine you'll pull more than a few frustrated customers of theirs away from them.

Best of Luck to You!

Hi All,

The latter could be solved by getting the model scanned centrally and then using a design software locally to finalize the design.

Agree, would love good design software in house ... and ok with someone else scanning the bar as long as we have the ability to design. We do a lot of bars, and find it difficult to communicate our needs. We even draw on screen shots, and the changes that come back aren't even close.

Hi BDDS,

Well I agreed and understand your point about have a software in-house.
The problem with software in-house at the moment is when you want an update, the development team need to program it, test it, solve bug, reajust it, re-test it in order to make it bullet proof. You will agree that you cannot allow a software to crash in your lab and have to wait hours over the phone to get someone that try to solve the problem neither you can hear the "Next patch will solve the problem". You need to produce otherwise you loose money.

So that why at Panthera we keep the software (bar only) internally, but in order to make it easier for our customer, next month or so we will get our 3D screenshot option, where you will be able to rotate and view you case and also add "flags" in the 3D space to explain what you want and need.

Also keep in mind my design team have done over 25 000 bars design for customer around the world, we have developped a way to understand what you want and how to communicate with customer.

At the end of the day I say : Try us once, i will do all my best to show you I am right.

For any more question or concern, call me at 418-527-0388 or 855-233-0388

Best regards
