This thread is almost 3 years old, I'm sure the NADL presidency has changed people a few times since they elect a new one every year, or is it every two years? Either way, the guy I was referring to has since retired/bought out and moved on.

Well said mate we have the same problems here in Australia they are prostituting our industry ........

we have labs sending to china and not telling the dentist were the product is made and selling it off as if it were made here ..

we have noticed a major drop in work and theres not much you can do about it

greed greed greed any anyone who defends the offshore issue has no idea what it will do to our industries across the board in the future

I send about $80,000 a month to China to do our work. I obviously have a lot of business and we also mill a bunch here in our lab. I want to keep my work here in the U.S. but I have a major problem! THERE ARE NO GOOD TECHS AROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bottom Line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Figure it out and let me know how not to outsource. By the way there is as much lead in your crowns as in China's because it is in the ground DUH! I had them tested. Also is everything in your lab and house made in the USA? UH NO! I would venture a guess that most of you guys are one man labs and are really not making a whole of money for the time put in. I have been there but yes I am now a business man that delivers a beautiful crown, faster, better, and cheaper. Lay off the crap because you guys are jealous or at least my favorite semper fi guy. By the way, EX MILITARY here too!!!! Vietnam!!!!! I don't feel the need to bring all that up to make a point about anything!

Post some pics of your self proclaimed "beautiful crowns" and let the people that know what a "beautiful crown" is determine if your crowns are "bueatiful".... no good techs out there, my ass, there are good techs out there, there are just too many greed mongers like yourself that don't want to pay a good tech a good wage... which is why there is so many one or two tech labs, because of lab owners like you. I would think an ex Vietnam guy would have better judgement... despicable.

There is a lab here that his wife lost her long time job at a non dental related company. She knows nothing of the business. He has a salesman ( lady ) going around handing brochures to the doctors office of two labs. One high end ( 15 employees ),the other ( his wife ) which is offering $69 PFMs, $70 Zirconia,and $86 Layered Zirconia. The doctor has his choice where to send. Go figure...

I wonder where those less expensive crowns are being fabricated?

No more fighting from me, I got to go drive my Porsche. Just in case though you have any real questions about business than just ask! Actually we have trainees here with families. Everbody believes that they know what a crown should look like and fit like but I wouldn't trust to many techs to judge my crowns or for that matter anyones. Once had 35 techs working for me, as a matter of fact for 12 years. Paid well, good benifits, but too many "social problems." You all might think you are the cats meow in the business but I would beg to differ. None of us are the greatest but we do what is needed and keep learning to keep up with technology. This business is tough enough without having to cry about what other people are doing. Just do your own thing and everything will either fall into place or not. Now I have to go drive my lamborgini.

Id like to know how you came to the conclusion that 'socialist' governments like switzerland and liechtenstein are subsidizing R&D for these companies?

Companys like straumann, nobel, and ivoclar all have shareholders just like any US company.

Not doubting this, I would just like to know where you got your information.

Also, this is a global economy whether we like it or not.. Ivoclars products may be developed in Liechtenstein, but its the americans that are profiting off of them.. not too many labs here (schweiz) using emax. If a company in another country has a better product (i.e. porsche, bmw) whats wrong with giving your money to that country? Again, GLOBAL ECONOMY..

I agree with you that nobody in the US uses US made materials.. if that were true labs would not be making ANY money off of ivoclar, straumann, nobel, vita.. Its only because of these companys american labs can operate..

It might be time to come off the american high horse... This coming from a proud american...
