Has anyone else spent time modifying xml and other files for exocad?
I'm wondering what other people have succeeded/failed in accomplishing.
There have been a few things that other people asked the possibilities of things like automatically opening the colored distance map, but I don't think anyone accomplished it because it is integrated in the new revision(I think).
I've wanted to customize the wizard for some time, but I don't know if it can be done.

I input all the 3D and bleach shades as a selection in my dental DB.

Is your version of DentalDB able to include the shade in the filename? I spent a lot of time modifying to try to achieve that.

Yes me. What do you Want to know ?

For the shade of the teeth, you need to open the file defaultsettings-db.xml into ...exocad direction\dentaldb\config
Go to the line 91 and 92 and write into filenametemplate and pathtemplate : _%tc
You need to be a save of your file before change it because if you have a problem, you can restore it

Jean-Michal, when you update a customers system, do they have to re do all their parameters and settings?

No you need to save the workparameterdb and the DentalDB_V3.sqlite files.
If you save this file it perfect after for the update. Sorry it's ok for the update from march 2012 because before you need to delete this files

Thanks Jean, but that parameter didn't work for my DentalDB. Maybe accessing that value isn't possible in older versions?

I don't know since how many times we have it. It must be that, but in few time you will receive it I hope for you.

I made a handful of modifications, the most useful to me:

\DentalCADApp\config\contextmenu-wizard.xml

add
<DentalProcessorInfo>
<ProcessorType>DentalProcessors.AdjustingOcclusionsProcessor</ProcessorType>
</DentalProcessorInfo>

This will allow you to adapt/cut occlusion while in freeforming, if you like to cut distance to opposing/antagonist, then add to occlusion contact points after cutting like I do(I was a waxer before this).
Right-click to see the option added to the context menu after library tooth is adapted.

Next, I like a stronger tool:

\DentalCADApp\config\defaultparameters.xml

search for
<Type>FreeformStrength</Type>

I changed values to

<MinValue>0.1</MinValue>
<MaxValue>5</MaxValue>

Havé you inside the bin directory i think a software : workparameter.exe ? Because this software can do it directly for you for différents types of protheses and matérial.

There are some options that can't be changed in my WorkParamConfigTool.exe, like those above.

Could you please explain how you did that? I mean step by step. Thanks, I appreciate it.

I can help out on this one...

Open Windows Explorer
Browse to the folder where Origin is, mine is in Documents, then the file WorkParamConfigTool.exe is located in Origin\DentalDB\bin.
(If you can't find it, right click on the shortcut icon used to open it, click properties, then look at target)
Open WorkParamConfigTool.exe
Click Treatment Parameters
On the Left, under Parameters, click ToothColor
On the right, under parameter Properties, click New Entry
Type in the shade under Short Name
Click Save.

Keep adding shades until done!
Click close
Click close
Close dentaldb
Open dentaldb

Is there a way to change the default for the opposing? Mine is currently set at bite impression, I would like to have the default as registered jaw.

There is, I had that annoying problem as well, so I had to change mine too.
You'll have to bear with me a bit until I can post how, unless someone else can get to it before me. Also, it was a while ago and I honestly don't recall exactly how, though it was using WorkParamConfigTool.exe.
(I've been spending too much time on here today, and it's cutting into my unit count :) )

Becarefull with the opposite. We have done it and after There is some problem of inversion if you sélect up and down jaw. Exocad have a bug about this.

Yes, there is a bug with this. I remember my first try resulted with the inversion problem, but there is a second step to the process that will fix it permanently (that's the part I forgot. lol)
Probably better if nobody attempts this before I verify how to do it again... it's not pleasant to deal with the inversion problem...

Rule of thumb, though, is to always, always, always back up your folder before you experiment with changes!
