There was a convention about 4 years ago maybe more in Hawaii it was a group of pros specialists and one of them did a study on bond strength between porcelain and the core, metal or zirc the porcelain chipped at about the same load. Her conclusion was when done correctly zirc does bond the same as vmk whether its chemical or mechanical it doesn't really mater to me as long as its sticking. I don't see the porcelain dropping off my zirc cores and there is no brown lines where its leaking either.Rember people say you cant bond zirconia but with z prime and the like you can we do a lot of zi facings.I have also been told there is no real bond between metal and porcelain and that its all mechanical hey but it still sticks.Sometimes you have to look at your own work and make valid observations because they are the most reliable and you know what the motives are for doing them. There are a lot people out there that do and say stuff for reasons we don't fully understand.I know im sounding a bit X files now so I will stop.

There is no bond between zirconia and ceramic . At least not with the ''bond'' definition . There is only mechanical retention . (The term retention might not be correct , but I can't think of anything better with my English !)
technically speaking there is no bond between the metal and glass either. its the oxide layer that utilizes the bond with opaques/glass

The oxide layer , is part of the metal frame , so technically , there is bond !!! But still , it is around 20% if I am not mistaken , so still , no matter what material we use , we must make a proper framework design !
