The CDM Hotshot was from 2000-2005 the piston tube was part of the gun 2 temp choices & could melt up to 11ml material & had trouble doing nesbits.
The CDM Elite has 3 fill tubes that are removable from the gun (no cross contamination between clear, duraflex & acetal),programmable temperatures for different materials, can use up to 15ml material, had a more stable stand
They have the same case, same electric cord, same fill funnel, same sprue former, same putty used, similar instructions the elite comes with a DVD.

Thanks AJ. I just wasn't sure if the older model got hot enough to melt the visiclear. From the sounds of it....it can.

Nichole Dura flex & Visiclear are both 446*f Visiclear is 4 min melt Duraflex is 6 min melt, you want to preheat the model to 235*f using the hard compound inject thru the clasp tip with 2 #8 bur vents, 1 solid pull will work most of the time use the heat gloves.. with the old gun expel a little then inject the stuff on the tip can gel to fast and make for voids. The other temp on the older gun is 394*f for Duracetal it has a 8 min melt, same model prep. with the Acetal be sure not to make it to thick, with the gun hollowing is a reality.
