I am looking at buying an e.max system. I will take an Ivoclar sponsored course, but I would really like to sit in a lab with someone who has done a bunch of cases. I work by myself, and could really benefit from a work week in a different lab doing a handful of cases. Any ideas? It would be free labor, plus I would pay a training fee. Or if anyone wants to spend a week in my lab, I would pay them too. I am close to Yellowstone, and Jackson Hole. There is snowmobiling, skiing, and ice climbing in the winter and fishing, hiking, mountain biking, hunting, horseback riding and rock climbing in the summer.

Wyolab.......Good idea to take the Ivoclar training.........don't let anyone talk you out of that.....its free when you buy the system...... and since your starting from scratch, best to buy their furnace, even though you will save $$ with other brands of pressing furnaces.........
When you order the emax, you DON'T need everything..... best to check with a emax lab to save a few dollars.............

Thanks Charles. I have an older Ivoclar EP 600 that came with the lab I am purchasing from my employer. It's an in house lab right now, and I am only set up for PFM's and FGC's so I think e.max will help round out my offerings. I actually have some older empress 2 ingots and porcelain, but I never have done any pressing. That also was something that was prior to my employment here.

We'll help you out, we are all E.max wizards here......most of us have been doing it since it came out. Like Charles suggested, best to get your feet wet with a class from the manufacturer, then you'll want to fine tune your technique (that's where we come in). You'll enjoy it.

I have made about every mistake you can make with about every material I have ever used and I can say that emax is very forgiving. You should have no problem with it. Take the Ivoclar course. Its in Las Vegas at LVI great physical plant but mike miln sucks. Luckily he wont be your instructor. After class you can go have some fun.

Thanks guys, I am sure you will be hearing more from me. I really appreciate any input I can get. This job would be really boring if I weren't learning new things.

Wyolab,
I see you are a newer member to DLN................ if you will take the time to read "ALL" the posts on Emax in this forum, you will be way ahead of the game.........Also call Ivoclar Monday and ask them to send you the e.max Press manual and the e.max Ceram instructions manual. These are free !
If you read these manuals first, you will better understand the many posts on DLN.........
Once you start pressing emax crowns, get prepared to get slammed with emax cases in your lab............... and don't price yourself to low.....

Thanks everybody. I will definitely have Ivoclar send those manuals. I have been trying to figure out where to price all of my items, including emax. If I start to low I won't be able to handle the volume, and I will never make a profit. To high and I will struggle to get clients. Since I am purchasing an in house lab and becoming independent there is a lot of infrastructure I am working on. I have designed my lab slips and started to put together a website. I am looking into lab management software, and am leaning towards these guys Laboratory Systems Group, Inc. - Dental Laboratory Software - Software for your dental lab.. There are quite a few things I would like to have ready before I am to busy with production to address them. Any input is really appreciated. I have been looking at topics all over the forum, and am benefiting hugely from all of the wisdom out there. The case presentations are fantastic, and those photos Al has of the e.max cosmetic case really give me something to look forward too. I am hoping to put some nice photos together for my website. Anyhow thank you all again.
