Dental Lab vs Dentist Pricing

Its not the $price that matters most it's the $$VALUE. What else are you offering for your crown price?
No fault remakes, personalized service for case planning or custom shades, consultation on day of patient cementation, 24 hour turn around, 24 hr 365 day service,.. GO BEYOND and WHERE OTHER DENTAL LABS WILL NOT GO!
Your posts give off major bot vibes

Its a sad topic.....after 45+yrs of fabricating everything in the dental technology spectrum, nothing changes....especially our opinion of what we do.
When my son became an oral surgeon 3 years ago, he verified what I always knew....its ALWAYS the lab's fault for restorations that fail, and they
are taught by the schools and their peers to always coerce one lab against the others.
that is extremely sad. please tell me your son knows otherwise and shares that knowledge with his colleagues?!

My proctologist said I had to stop bending over to these greedy people. So I had to draw a line. Dentists don't like lines.
Still loads of praise about quality and consistency and that I'm a real peach to work with when I ask them about their lack of work coming to us. So I still get their "important work." It's just more money they "need."
be careful with that sphincter, KKnapp! You only get one.

costs always go up, so they have to cut somewhere. for some reason its nearly always the lab bill ... which is strange considering how much their costs have gone up in the 3 decades ive been doing this teeth thing...and the pretty much flat line that lab fees has been in the same timeframe.

Seeing my proctologist next month, he is going to use a ROBOT.
Try automating your operation to reduce costs and be a player.;)

Yes Ken , but your proctologist is not using a ROBOT to reduce his fee to you, in fact I would argue that he is probably charging a premium over those who do not invest in new technology.
pull your head out your arse realise and admit that automation can only increase efficiencies so much when you are trying to provide a high quality product and not just a cookie cutter cheap**** crown .
technology is great but stop trying to run the industry down to lowest common denominator. We are not producing widgets.
Anyone who says "be a player "is a ****wit. Your laser sintered crown is not going to revolutionise the industry any more than whatever was the last big thing that was supposed to put me out of business. I are already competing and surviving against crowns that cost less than my material costs . I just get sick of hearing of and seeing people invest vast sums of money in technology to make their restorations really cheap ,but not better.

Today, dental restorative device lab businesses compete in a commodity driven market. Lab business success is dependent upon continued year over year sales growth and profit margin. Service to dentist, product quality and differentiating your lab from others with unique technologies, services and superior quality is the way to continue in this business.
THE FACT THAT THERE ARE COMPLAINTS ABOUT PRICING PRESSURE MEANS THESE LABS HAVE A FAILING BUSINESS!
Which means more business for me.:)

!! The proctologist ROBOT, (now considered the best standard of care in the USA since 2015), does greatly reduce my costs and greatly reduces patient recovery time and complications.:) Sure, you could see a proctologist using the "old method" in the USA, Latin America or China, for this procedure, but in the end it will cost you more in $$, time and possible complications. You can make up for lost $$ but not for lost time!
You should rethink your view of the future of the dental lab business,.

THE FUTURE STARTS TODAY!!

Sounds like proctologists are way more stupid than dentists. Dentists don’t lower costs for their chairside crowns, they’ve all continued to raise them. At least all the dentists I know.
So not only did they decide to work with literal @ssholes, they lowered their prices like a lab tech.
strange world. Strange times

Sounds like that you are denial about running your lab business into the ground.
Maybe you will be reborn as a dentist;)

Bro, I'm a 42 year old that should have been born in the 1800's. Can I make super fast crowns that "will work?" Yes. But I have this super extremely annoying part of me that can only let me do my best each and every time I make a crown. Believe me I hate it. I promise you I do. I'm THE WORST at running a lab. I get it. I'm fully aware the cheese has been moved. It's also true that that cheese has evolved into the crappy "American singles" and the blocks of "cheddar" that Kraft produces. It is awful. It tastes like crap. It looks like plastic and melts like plastic. Does it work on a sandwich? Sure. Does it work in any meal? I guess. But it's still crap. And along with it's other crappy competitors it fills more grocery shelves and gets into more homes than quality stuff.
It's the same for the lab world. Can you make super fast crowns that fill a space? Absolutely. Can you do 1000's a day with 40 techs? Probably, I wouldn't be surprised. Do they look nice and feel nice and function correctly? If you're honest you'll say what doctors say, "good enough."
I'm in the works of creating a new business completely outside of the dental industry. Sadly, it's a million dollars and a few years away. But when it's hopefully running I'll still have my lab equipment in storage in case my family, friends, or myself needs a crown because I'm weirdly old fashioned and prefer quality.
Enjoy your future domination.
