Is duralay still the goto for verification jigs?
Is there something more rigid with near zero flex?

I'm using printed material bonded with composite to titanium temp abutments. Is it better? Don't know, but getting great results.

Well john the thickness seems like overkill to me, but rock solid cant be argued.

I heard pi ku plast was the best pattern resin.

I learned the hard way that flex HAPPENS with PMMA and that isn't great for Zirc :)

I shoot for 10X10MM when I do these

I didn't think that stuff flexed. I have never used it though.

It is IMO, but it still shrinks more than light cured composites or adhesives. I always had to cut my pi ku plast jigs to remove tension and rejoin.

Everything has its technique.

Use light cured materials only as those have shrinkage less than 2%. Pattern resins have polymerization shrinkage more than 5-7%, ok to use but need to leave them to fully cure at minimum 24h before use. No need to wait for Light cure materials. Hope that helps, Dr Domagala

I've seen pictures from Bill Marais using buff stone for jigs on zirc cases.
It doesn't flex and snaps if there's any tension.

Having said all that, I use GC pattern resin.

Do you guys cut the hex off the ti abutments if the angulation does not allow seating?

That's a multi unit case. No hexes. Abutment level, not implant level. Some manufacturers offer non-hexed versions of their components.

The stone idea did come to mind when I saw johns then I thought it would be to brittle but if that were to your advantage.

Pi-ku-plast resin here, reusing the impression copings w/o the engaging parts, lengths of SS iv needle stock in between for extra rigidity. Not as fancy as a digital jig, but I can get one finished in same time as scanning and designing would take...also cheap to produce...

We use die stone, have been told right from when we first started this is the most accurate, and if the impression is out the stone will break, then the doc will have to take a new impression.
And start all over again, we find there is too much flex in most other materials. verification.JPG
