3Shape strange behavior

I'm getting a strange display in 3Shape when I use the Wax Knife presets.
First pic is the standard scan w/fc crown = that's ok
Second pic is when I select a preset. Notice the additional stuff at the bottom of the model.
Third pic is when I remove the model with the slider - this is what remains.
Why is this happening and how do I correct it?

that looks like what happens when you hit preset 7? I think. It attempts to allow you to look through and see your contacts. Hit 7 again to turn it off. I think. I'm not at my 3shape computer to check.
