Hi All,

Just got bad news this evening on TWO cases. So I need TWO helps.

Case one:

Zirconia Full Contour 6-11 & 22-27 PATIENT DELIVERY ON MONDAY!!! Apparently the preparation scan was mounted incorrectly on the Artex articulator, so we have to remount and rescan the mandibular. The problem is not only is it due on Monday, but we have already designed the whole case, milled, and glazed. The only way we know how to make this work is to create a new order which requires a design from margin scratch. Is there a way to use the new scan with the old design? The preps are the same just moving a bit.

Case two:

Same issue but with a situation scan model of the temp maxillary bridge. We want to scan a different pre preparation model and use it with our preparation models and the current design. Not milled but a PFZ full mouth reconstruction due on Thursday of next week.

Our software is glitchy so please be detailed with your instructions. THANKS!

Case one make a standard copy, press f4 on copy to enter case folder. Delete the design tree file DON"T WORRY!. Now find the anatomy element folder and rename it to say Anatomy for reuse. Now sound like the bite was off, if the lower scan is the same simply just rescan the right bite. Now to design. Once you confirm the bite is correct you will need to redo the insertion, margins and die spacer. when you get to smile comp make sure you select the reuse design in the smile library if it doesn't already pop up. You may not even have to adjust anything. just reconnect the margins.

Case two
Create a new case #8 temp on prepared model upper arch only scan the new preop in. Press f4 when done to to go folder and grab the upper scan file, copy it and if all you want to do is replace the current preop with the new one, simply past the new one into the needed folder on the old case and name it prepreparation scan. You may need to re align it in the design software. If you have version 18 or 19 you can also import the new preop as an aux scan and align it in design.

So many ways to go about fixing these issues.

Thanks Sevan. I have a question about case two. We have never been able to properly align raw prep and preprep when the raw is missing all dentition landmarks. So how can I align it in designer without landmarks?

If the case is mounted on a fully adjustable articulator IE: (Stratos). Mount both to the same bite. Then scan them both on transfer plates all e series and D1000 and D2000 can use them for articulators, and scan preprep as generic double wax up. That has no alignment in scan but can be altered in design if needed. Now since they both at mounted and scanned on the same plane the generic double wax up is how i scan them.
