New Haas Metal-Mill today?

I have Fork-lift ready and pulled out the door frames.

Ready, I think? This is Reinshaw Touch Probe for spindle and tool-offset sensor and wireless receiver kit.

(W.I.P.S.) Wireless, Intuitive-Probing System. Works like a Nobel Touch scanner to send CAD data back to PC from the CNC mill.

I had to have a custom holder machined to adapt the W.I.P.S. System to a tiny ISO 20 taper tool-holder. (upper left)

I'm like a crack head wanting the next hit lets see what it can I just had shoulder surgery and I'm bored as hell this is all I get to live up to now.

I have to wait for Haas eng. to arrive on Mon or Tue to power it up, due to warrenty stuff....

I also need to wait a while and think as to where to place the Tool-Probe, and trunion assembly in the chamber. I may have no options due to tight space?

Then, we carefully begin to write the various homing sequences and tool change positions and the commands for Z tool-offset movements after tool changes when the tool drops down to Reinshaw tool sensor gizmo. I have a lot of software programming once the Italian arrives. We have a fleet of tools to program into CAM, the actual mill parts to draw in CAD for the CAM to use for collision detection.

I then figure out all my limits of angles for tool and make notes to go back and make as hard limits in CAM for the Haas OM2-a specific post processor and strategys...

Calibrate the rotarys...

Then, we test more on a foam mock-up for steel fixture assembly and see what happens.....then we try the actual fixture for the first time maybe with Wax.....then one day Metal.

Double check the calibrations.

Probably take minimum of One month. This is the fun part I have been waiting for! I love the challenge and the unknown!

It is NOT for everyone. You have to make it yourself. LOL Freestyle baby! I worked with over Twenty companys so far and it still has Zero programs and no brains yet. I have to make it.

Open mill, Open CAM.....only limited by your imagination and the chamber size?

I will save $50k-$100k on this initial unit, and more for any future mills if compared to similar "Dental" set-up. (5HP/3.7kW spindle...19,200mm/max feeds for rapids and 12,700mm/min cutting, Industrial tooling in a 5-axis, max table weight is 150lbs., mill has 1149lbs of thrust on the Three main axis)

Maybe I sell these with CAM and support? As a turn-key Metal solution. It will also rip up PMMA and Plastics for future Dentures and of course Lava Ultimate and other materials that benifit from Wet-milling. Everything, but Zirconia mill. VERY high resale value! The highest you could hope for.

I need to test for a while to make user-friendly. If possible? LOL
