Hey i think i posted here a while back but forgot about it and where the forum is lol. Was trying to figure out if i should do implants even though i smoke cigarettes and the answer was no i think.

So now another quick question please, assuming i can't get implants and i have to live with this plastic crap in my mouth, and assuming that the suction cup stuff doesn't work. What's the best way to get it relined so i dont' have to use glue, i've tried this twice both times the dentist fail to make it very secure.

I noticed that i can buy reline material like coe-soft or luc-soft from online shops, and i saw a youtube video on some dentist doing a reline lol all i see that he did is mix some stuff and leave it in 5-6 min and scrape that same stuff off after 5-6 min, is this true? Can i reline my own denture by buying coe-soft, also can i install ultra suction myself i can buy that too.

Wow....Seriously, you want advice about your heart, you go to a heart surgeon, not YouTube. If you want clinical dentistry advice, you go to a Dentist, once again, not a lab forum or YouTube. It's fine to educate yourself about different products and techniques. Some of us would commend you for that, but listen, if you have discomfort or a problem, you need to see a licensed professional (a.k.a Dentist). Good Luck, there is many out there that are more than willing to help you. P.S. Smokers suck, literally. :)

I'm older with lots of stories. I was working part time at night in Highland Park IL in 1978 . A DDS drops off a reline to be done, thing was stinky. I pour up the models and flask it at the time with dentsply insulating paste. I open it up and notice what i think is a DDS chairside so I poke my plaster knife between and gag. There were white maggots living there. I talked with the DDS next morn after cleaning the mess up and reline(almost rebase) to making it nice clean & as pretty as I could. The patient came in with it like that, he had done a drugstore home reline. he had it trimmed off pretty well & sanded smooth, but he forgot to take out the seabond adhesive pad and maybe some flies had been happy there. (maggots are baby flies). That is my grossest story so far. Joachim made me air out the lab when he got in, I thought the vents would be enough he didn't think so & went out for coffee while I waited with the doors open in Nov in IL.
Hey kelly where about is your lab?

That may be true, but until said people go to undergrad, grad school and be licensed by a regional boards to practice said clinical dentistry, any comments about the clinical side of the house to a patient negates our legal authority....also just sayin'. Listen, do I know some techs that would walk circles around GD's chairside, and not just prosthodontics either, of course. It still doesn't make it legal to do so. Most state statutes are very clear on this matter and limit any and all communication to what we are allowed to convey to patients and/or permitted to practice on a patient (i.e. shade taking, custom staining). It's in our nature to help, that's techs middle names, we are helpers because we care. On the flip side, you give advice to this patient about relining his denture and two months from now he finally does go see a Dentist and they find a malignant palatal sarcoma that could of been treated a couple months ago but can't because he's been messing around with a soft reline, says he smokes so don't think it's so far fetched. I'm just looking out for you, sure that was a little extreme, but it is what it is folks, be safe, let the clinical folks do there job. :)

That's fine i'm not asking you to violate anything, i see all these techniques so since this forum is "a dental lab" why would it break your policy to talk about the products offered?

There's no dentist forum, denture forum, implant forum. Aside from traveling across the country on hopes of finding a good dentist there isn't much i can do cause there isn't one here.

I am with Rob on this one, there are dentists, patients, assistants and goodness knows who else looking in on this site. Just because it is a Dental Laboratory Forum does not mean it's exclusive to Dental Lab Technicians. Anything we say that could be seen as giving dentistry advice to the public is looked upon as an illegal practice.

Here is a good dentist forum, this sight is good for dentistry questions and the advice is from dentists. Dental Forums and Dental Message Boards

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry is a good resource for finding a good AACD dental practice near you or look up board certified prosthodontist and type in your location you can find a specialist in your area.

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th

Here are a Home - American Dental Association - ADA.org (american dental association),www.aacd.com (american academy of cosmetic dentistry)

I know technicians who do a "private patient" or repair or two on the side, in the Army I was a dental hygienist as well as technician. My fingers don't go in patients mouths, I keep to my side of the chair, I'l observe for a persnickety patient, for the purpose of customizing the set-up, but all my work has a DDS work order. There are some states/countries/provinces that allow Denturism, I just don't live in one of them. I send patients to my DDS if I like the person and to someone else s DDS if I think the pt might be a pain. I extended my ed into EMTB and when volunteering at a first aid tent / firestation we have specific SOP we follow,(basic stuff but I have a ambulance radio to get them to a clinic pronto). I for one will chat with people on the phone at the lab but try to get them to see a licensed person for proper evaluation.
Good Stuff lab Guy & Dental Guy, I think I recommended to ssynthesiss several mo ago to call his local lab and ask where they would go for what he needed or his Canadian DDS association.
