Of the latest computers being sold by 3Shape, there are apparently two different OS. I don't know if theres a choice or just 'take what you get', but which would you want?
Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit/ Windows 8 Pro, 64bit

I'm having trouble with windows 8 so I'd go with 7.

You should have a dedicated computer for scanning so you don't need all the app crap.

The OS isn’t really what the issue is, but it isn’t helping. You definitely want at minimum a unit with 8gb of RAM, a nvidia geforce 700+, and an intel i7 processor

I recommend 7 :) I heard some glitch or error still can't figured out with Win8

Any 64-bit OS will give you better memory & processing capability. Win 7 looks & feels a lot more like win XP if you are familiar with that. Win 8 introduced an APP type screen with no traditional "Start" menu so its like learning how to use windows all over again.

My most recent laptop came with win 8 and it's annoying - I'd rather use Win 7.

If you looking for pure ease of use & familiarity w/ older version of windows then go w/ 7. If you are okay w/ learning some new workflows on a different looking windows then try win 8.

nothing wrong with that. just ensure the scanner is connected to a USB port in the back, and the backup drive is connected in the front - a separate usb bus.

It kinda says both ; )

Operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit/ Windows 8 Pro, 64bit
I don't know why it shows both 7 and 8, unless theres a choice. Ive only spent a few moments on my daughters computer that's windows 8...I didnt like it. Is there a reason why you guys at CAP (or anyone else) has gone with 8, or 8.1 rather than 7?

8.1 at least has a Start menu again.

still buggy and glitchy as all hell.

i'd sooner have 8.1 than 8, for sure. but i'd sooner 7 than 8.1

8.1 is significantly less buggy. I would pick the 2nd computer with a 4th Gen i7 over the 3rd gen i7
