I am currently trying to figure out what it would cost per unit for materials and burs for a Roland. I know the purchase price, but I am unsure what my other cost would be. Is anyone using this mill to make their custom abutments?

There are several DWX-50 owners on this site so you should hear from them soon. Until then you are welcome to use the ROI (return on investment) calculators on our website:

DWX-50 ROI calculator: http://www.rolanddga.com/solutions/dental/roicalculator/
DWX-4 ROI calculator: http://www.rolanddga.com/solutions/dental/ROICalculator_dwx4/

When we created the calculator we rounded up whenever possible to give the most realistic numbers. The numbers shown represent zirconia restoration manufacturing.
Custom Automated Prosthetics "CAP" has a very detailed ROI calculator that they can go through with your specific business numbers. You can reach them at www.cap-us.com

there are hundreds of variables if you are looking for a very general number then there are only a couple easy variables:

(the % of the blank that was taken x the blank cost) + 2 dollars.

however when you factor this in the cost of your unit, also consider how much time it took to mill (as a % of an hr's wage) and double it.

that will be the cost of the scan and design time.
