I am working with a roland DWX-52DCi and was thinking about getting the DWX-53DC. Does anyone have it and is it worth getting the new model? or should we just get another 52DCi? We only mill Zirconia and PMMA on it.

If you like Roland and have had good luck with the 52 DCi, pick up another one. The 53DC is basically like these new refrigerators that have big TV screens on the door; all of the actual working components are the same as the other model, they just added some tech to it. You can already get the same more robust spindle assembly that's on the 53, on the 52. And most everything else is the same just wrapped up in a different case w/ some cameras and other electronics to fail. I always try to go with with previous models that they've had time to work the bugs out of.

being that they have already discontinued support for some older models, and are running short on parts should something need replacing...i always lean toward the newer tech.
in fact....because its so similar to the 52 it lends more credence to go up a version instead of staying back or buying an older model. since they are so similar they may discontinue support for the older model just as they have in the past.

(i say this as a 51d owner thats considering a mill upgrade ;))

Hello, @McCord. My name is Jane Qi, the customer service specialist for DGSHAPE Global.

There are 6-disc changer units in DWX-53DC same as DWX-52DCi. However, the disc adapter ZMA-53D is dedicated for DWX-53DC that enable 100 types of disc ID patterns can be registered in DWX-53DC. With the new disc changing mechanism, it enables faster changing time (half) than 52DCi.

DWX-53DC also include a special open edge adapter as a standard, with ±35 degrees B-axis allows for milling of almost all undercuts of anterior full-arch or denture. Designed to wow even PMMA power users, the DWX-53DC is built to handle multiple digital partial and denture workflows. Engineered with improved rigidity and spindle strength, it easily mills dual and mono shaded PMMA discs. The DWX-53DC also boasts faster milling times with its 4mm tool capability.

Should you need further information, please feel free to reach out.
