Here is one for the c@b techs

Recently I received a case that required a post core. I haven't done a post core in about 10 years or more. I didn't have any burn out posts so I was going to use the post that was used in the impression. I yanked it out after my pours only to find out that it was an aluminum post that was used. So out the window with that idea.

A called around some tech friends to see if they had any burnout post for me but they didn't but one of them said that he just uses a toothpick.

Just widdle down the toothpick to suit and cover in wax. It burned out fine and everything fit as usual.

Hopefully it helps someone that is in a pinch like I was.

Plastic coated paperclip. Has lots of strength, and after your done waxing and fitting, cut the plastic, slide it off and seal the ends with a touch of wax.

Believe it or not one of my old bosses showed me a technique with Kleenex and super glue. Just roll up a small point in the tissue and add super glue then work it in and out of the prep. Then add wax to complete. It may sound strange but it works great and burns out clean.

Shave a sliver piece of plastic from the edge of the plastic work trays or an old plastic imp tray.;)

sharpen it, try the fit on the die, add a slight GC resin to the sharpened piece of plastic and try it up and down tell you get the prober fit and no undercuts (which will be eliminated) then cast it.

This will concludes our post and core adventure wax up for the day:)

Looks good in theory, but the only review that said they etacked them also said they didn't hold up. Do you have experience with these? 'Round here rubbermaid trashcans are standard for feed storage.

Buying a vent brush, and use the little plastic pokie deals. You get years worth of endo posts for a couple of bucks. Some brushes will be thicker and tapered, some straight up and down, depending on what you want.

Pokies and Gumbies...those were good old days. Which reminds me, the throwback/old toy thread, kinda went silent. I guess we thought of them all o_O

Just be careful, superglue on paper/cotton stuff can self ignite if the conditions are right.
