Blue = 3shape
Brown= Exocad

Do you see the difference ?

I see it very well .... ;)[/QUOTE

Is anybody really going to notice a difference in the fit of a crown because one scan has a tighter mesh than another? When the ADA accepts marginal fits of 25+ microns, what difference will this make...seems like we're splitting hairs here. :confused:

My crowns fit and the preps are perfect. I'm not responsible for that mystery zone between the two. :)

I don't guess it matters as much on nice smooth consistent preps but I get some pretty jagged up and down stuff and I want the tissue areas perfect.

The old saying is, "All crowns fit, but some fit better than others"... My best guess... white light scanner crowns fit better, but it doesn't matter if you own a 3shape, or have a need to accurately scan dimes for a living.. :D

Just kidding guys ! :)

Too much information is never a problem especially when they are good ...
You can always be satisfied with the minimum.....:D

It's obvious the exocad is finer detail and can scan better than 3Shape, BUT what can it do with that data is a whole different animal. In addition, this may be a reason why exocad files are so HUGE and it takes awhile for the whole process compared to 3Shape???? Just thinking out loud??? Also, doesn't 3Shape say accuracy to 10 microns while exocad boasts 5 microns? I could see where this may be important in doing implants and doing occlusal anatomy, but once again, just because it can scan it doesn't mean anything if the software can't interpret it...
