I had a couple of crowns recently that were pretty thin and ended up with a pinhole in the occlusal surface. Crowns had to go, and I fixed the holes with porcelain.
Is it okay to do this? Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated.

This is a bad idea my friend. You are sacrificing the integrity of the zirconia, and doing underhanded manufacturing. Sorry to be harsh but this is unacceptable. They will come back as a remake. Next time call and tell them what happened they will understand.

Sure, this is not the best thing to do and I wouldn't recommend a quick fix to any restorations whether it's pfm or zirconia that would jeopardize the integrity of a crown.
Have you guys NEVER sent something out that's not ideal?
Btw- my remake factor is almost non-existent, less than 1/4 of one percent in my lab.
