All those cases could use some changes but the patient and Dr accepted them.

If you want to make your job soooo much easier order your Drs that do all ceramic the Ivoclar emax shade guides.

I sent them LT, Incisal and the Impulse guides.

This case hasnt been seated yet, I dont know if it is going to go the gin may be light and the incisal not white enough, but it is going to be close.

I pressed it in A1 LT, layered the gin 1/2 with A1 and the incisal with straight OE4 and added a spot of clear on the M.

This Dr is a long distance away and I didnt want to take any risk of the wrong ingot choice so I made 2 sets.

One pressed in BL4 and the other in BL3. Pressed .4 at the gin and .6 over the discolored area.
Requested final shade is A1 gin BL4 middle with a sutle blue grey halo.

Al thanks for sharing

how do you arrive at the colour to use for each crown from a photo.
Or if doctor says A3 with no photo what extra colours would you use to lift the crown from the ordinary.

best wishes

Chris

Hi Chris, When I get an pfm ant crown with no photo, just A3 on the script, I usually do the gin A35 especially in the interproximals, not stain but one shade darker opaque and porcelin. I opaque the tip with intensive incisal opaque.
For both pfms and emax I make sure I do an irregular dentin cut back, the traditional V type cut back often looks fake in the mouth it makes the incisal look too grey, most natural teeth have very thin dentin going up almost to the incisal edge, but too often we cut back the dentin too much.

Color aside I try to really pay attention to light reflection some times I miss it sometimes not. After I glaze I do a bit of a hand polish on the facial. One big give away on anterior crowns is the finish or glaze.

That first case I posted above I am very unhappy with the finish. It is not smooth enough. Her teeth are smooth and have a matte finish.

The Dr removed the 3 unit bridge and placed an implant in the #9 area.

He removed the 3 old venners and repreped them.

This was a tough case and I not one I was in a hurry to get pics of mainly because she had quite a bit of tissue loss and lots of spaces to fill in making her teeth look square and blocky. And anterior implant crowns often come out looking funky.

It was all done in A1 Lt.
I try to close the spaces from the lingual.

Note how the light reflects from all the line angles and height of contours keeping the teeth from looking flat.

Im pretty happy here. These are pics at insert. The area that screws it up is no papilla between 9 & 10. Mabey it will grow down, the dr had to cut to get the implant and crown down because the tissue was growing down so mabey the area will fill in.
