Hi everyone! We have a Dr looking for a resin or composite material for a permanent crown over an implant abutment. Any recommendations for something that could be milled?

I'm not sure there is anything on the market that would be classified "permanent". I know we've used Schutz Dental Tizian's 'reinforced zirconium composite' in the past but I still think that's only to be used for two years or less. I'm curious what others say here.

Anterior or posterior?
Can you make it screw retained ?
If so then go with a pmma or nano composite and replace it down the road if or when it fractures.

VITA ENAMIC although I believe it's a ceramic and composite hybrid

Or maybe a PEEK substructure with composite buildup?

very interested. know anybody that could mill it for us?

It'll mill on a Roland or similar dry mill. I'd offer to mill one but our reseller won't load the strategies on their locked SUM 3D cam, but I'm sure a there's a milling center on the forum that could do it for you.

Why not just make a coping and put composite on it? Theres already metal in the mouth, you can even make it titanium.

I get it, just make sure you charge him and use a metal coping after the first one breaks.

Why not just use pekkton or peek? Many variations out there, not esthetic, but will last.

GC cerasmart or Vita Enamic. Enamic is ugly as sin but IMO a better material since it can be etched. Cerasmart looks better. I would caution against using these materials. I have placed some over implants but they have a higher incidence of debonding. I would try to talk him into pfm, zirconia, or emax.
