Take a good look at your friends picture. The teeth are whiter than the white in her eyes. That makes them look even more fake. If you are tanned, the dinner plate color looks even worse. What is the current shade you have? It does not look so dark. Also your teeth ( the 2 centrals) are quite large so the dentist has to remove quite a bit more than on your friend's theeth. How many veneers were you planing to get?

Looking at the pics of your teeth the way you are wearing your incisal edges my money says you start breaking your new veneers, if you get them.

Before you spend all that money and have to live the rest of your live with your teeth irreversibly ground down,and then married to your dentist, have him grind your incisal edges on the upper straight and even (and the lower where/if necessary) then bleach. That should give you that metrosexual look or help to make you a chick magnet if that's what your looking for. Of course a corvette would probably work better.
That will cost you peanuts compared to veneers and then replacing them every 10 years.

My professional second opinion... buy a white corvette and bleach you teeth if you want whiter teeth, and be a chick magnet as you age with newer vetts
