Thoughts on overseas outsourcing?

Yeah, I actually did some digging. If you outsource work to an american lab, its more likely than not they outsource it as well overseas. Asian labs have even opened labs in the states to just be satellites for sending work back and forth. Even multiple labs at same location with just different names.

So the moral is, you don't really know until you for sure really know. However price is a big indicator. If you can't do it for $75, there's a reason they can.

Of course it's no secret nowadays.

There are 2 larger labs in Florida that the work comes in the door and back out again on a flight to southeast Asia. They are not secretive about it. Where else are you going to get a crown that cheaply? They know their market, and it was not mine, so I wasn't concerned.
 
And you guys do what you want, but any office that wanted contacts added on crowns, not of your record, I would refuse.... Or 4x your regular fee. If they complained, you say they were getting a discount for crowns of record.

In my case, I just refused. They want to put our people out of work, I'm not going to help them do it.
 
Luckily our lab doesn't compete with labs that outsource. We have always charged more for our work because I learned a long time ago from this forum that you "don't compete on price." Since covid, we have had many new and old doctors come to us or come back to us for our work. It used to be "too expensive." Doesn't matter if they can offer a crown for $90 if it doesn't fit or they can't get it back on time.

Which is the problem with the labs you do compete with.... They just rebox the crap they outsourced.
 
I find it interesting that the fee to a patient for a crown has more than doubled in the time that Zirconia crowns have been available, but labs are still stuck in a $79.00 -$109.00 fee to the doc. WTF is wrong with those labs?

But seriously no they don't care about the little $90 crown man... It'll be tacked on to larger purchases so you'll pay for it in the goods you buy with that $90.

Yeah funny how patriotism takes a back seat to capitalism. Weren't these countries the red.scare 60 years ago?
Our soldiers fell into tiger traps? Tortured in prison camps? Beheaded?

But since they'll work for $15 it's okay now??

Not saying we were perfect, but somebody sold us out then and somebody sells us out now.

I had a friend who was special forces... He was in a pow camp in Vietnam. One of the Vietnam guards smashed him with a rifle butt in the jaw. Broken multiple places and had to have his lower ridge rebuilt at the VA with his hip bone.

So I don't want to hear "what a difference a day makes"

potentially, yes. i do not have faith in either party doing the right thing by us business owners....and i am certain youve felt the big rise in costs just like we have.
ive created a lab that has grown enough to bring 99% (and soon the last little bit!) of what products we offer in-house for a host of reasons, but it sure seems like big brother is doing all things possible to make us close up shop in favor of those outsource labs. adding another big tax on top of the invisible inflation tax is "no joke" to quote our esteemed leader....(insert sarcasm)

My comment was pretty much tongue and cheek because I'm just like you, I can't really stand any politician. Poli is latin for "many" and tics is latin for "blood sucking creature"...and they live up to it everyday...just watch any news show.

My brother was a corpsman in the Navy when the POW's were coming back from Vietnam. They had to put them in straight jackets to try to get their arms and shoulders to work again. How soon our so called govt forgets!
 
So many people cheered Trump's one piece of legislation he got passed...tax cuts. That bill made permanent the tax cuts on the super wealthy while the tax cuts that we got...sunset. Now why is that? Our politicians in both parties are beholden to lobbyists who do the bidding of the wealthiest in our country.
 
I’m sure President Harris or VP Clinton will turn things around.
