Is that a reusable plunger or a disposable. I'vee never seen that before. Hope you figure it out.

Doug you thinks? that's what I was thinking.;)

Reuseable plunger. Gotta call Ivoclar and order some new ones.

I'm thinking a disposable plunger as well...cool trick either way!!!
Reusable, have no idea other than it's plum worn out...had a few gf's go that route, so your plunger isn't alone :)

Never used disposable plungers, always reusable. The pressings did come out great however. Will post pics later. Running some tests, destroyed two more this morning so I'm ordering new ones today.

Any chance there's an issue with the press pressure or drive? The only time I've seen something similar was when the internal alox press rod (not the plunger) had build-up on it from vaporized porcelain and was hanging up the press movement.

Ok, this is a first. I have never experienced this. I placed two plungers in the burnout this am, same results. It's like the outer skin is popping off. Has anyone experienced this or something similar?

Yes, but I'm having a difficult time remembering why it happened. How do you clean your plungers after pressing?a

You're not preheating them are you? I just read over Ivoclars instructions yesterday and they read that a Cold plunger and cold ingot go in when pressing.

We use disposable plungers on the Zubler advance pressing. The Alox plungers can't heat up quick enough for the short time it's in the press. We use Alox plungers on the other pressing cycles.
