So we're always discussing our new toys, but what to do with the old stuff? Maybe I'm the only one who has a dead computer, scanner and misc. equipment graveyard around, but what's the best way to properly dispose of them?

We have a county environmental center that I can drop off old equipment and they take care of disposal.

Once a year our county holds a free "electonic" disposable day as they're NOT supposed to end up in land fill or dumped along the side of a road.

I was hoping you'd chime in, Doug. Good idea. Others? I really don't care to add to toxic landfills.

I have a storage facility that has stuff like this, one day it will go to the dumb as what I think its still worth is utterly useless tomorrow.

The sad thing is I still pay the rent on the storage just to save this crap.

I think this thread got me started to liquidate. I think a cool way would be to take a picture from the door and have people bid on the boxes

If you have a Medit SE scanner we are offering very nice trade up pricing through March 31st 2016. Trade up your SE to new Medit Identica Blue or Hybrid.

I have a neighbor who uses old computers to sight in his artillery. Not too sure it really solves the problem, but he has fun.

Efficient use of the parts turned in for recycling can be very profitable. There is a lot of Gold in most of the electronics that are turned in. Unfortunately it's only profitable in large quantities that's enough reason to drive to the environmental center. They have the resources to retrieve that "booty"
