Can anyone tell me the PC requirements?

I'm looking to upgrade my pc. I just want to make sure the Video Card will work.
I checked on their webpage and on their FAQ it just says "Test" hahah. Not very helpful.

I'm wondering what you guys are all using.

Here is what I'm thinking:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card
Case: Antec Nine Hundred Two ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: SeaSonic 520W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

It's just under $1000
Not too bad I think.

All seems good with the exception of the graphics card. I recommend nVIDIA GTX 550.
Not really happy with the way the ATI cards work with 3Shape.

Good luck!

ATI works fine, and since it's a design station it doesn't really matter. There used to be issues with ATI cards on scanning computers but that has since been resolved. The computer spec'd above should be perfectly fine. No reason to go above and beyond for the 3Shape software.

Make sure it's a 64 bit operating system!

Looks decent enough.

I priced one out last night on newegg and ended up at $1429.93

Case: Antec three hundred
HDD: WD Cavier Blk 1TB
GPU: EVGA superclocked GTX670 4GB
PSU: Corsair Pro series HX650
MOBO: Asus Sabertooth Z77 LGA 1155
CPU: i7-2700K Sandy bridge Quad core 3.5ghz
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaw series 4GB (2x2gb)

You really don't need more then 4GB of ram, but ram is soo cheap now why not get more as a safety feat.

I have the 7850 in my Hex core PC at home and love it, but I am mainly Gaming with it handles a good amount of load.

If you can spring for a SSD as the main OS HDD then use the WD 1TB to store all the 3shape case files and all your other data and images, music etc.............. I guarantee you will be smoking fast with your build.

Well I went ahead and put the pc together and the damn 3shape software will not install without freezing up.
Tried lots of different things and always the same. Is there something I'm missing with driver compatibility?
Does anything come to mind that I could try?

I emailed 3shape support, What a laugh that is.
Suggest I remove any dental manager software then try reinstalling,.
I told them I already tried that and have not heard back from them for a couple weeks.

Just looking for any ideas that I could try. If anyone has any.

thanks

If you have 64 bit windows it causes problems.. I clean installed win7 5-6x to get mine to work. What processor are you running? Its trial and error, keep notes of what works and just keep reinstalling

Here are some suggestions:

See if there is an installation log file. If so, does the install freeze at the same place every time? See what it is trying to install when the install freezes. Make sure your virus software and firewall are disabled. If the dongle has a manufacturer's name on it see if their website has any FAQ's. If you suspect a video card issue you can try to update your card's drivers (even new systems will have out of date drivers) and/or you can try to disable the driver to see if you can at least complete the install.

The first point of call should be your 3Shape Reseller.
3Shape Support is primarily the contact point for your reseller and does not normally deal with end user issues like this directly.
We always recommend to buy the computers directly from 3Shape to avoid being "stuck in the middle"

Obviously the specific hardware setup and associated drivers are not working properly with your 3Shape setup.
We have found the graphic card being the critical part and it does not necessarily run better with a higher specification than what is used in the 3Shape supplied computers.
What graphic card are you using? I assume you are running Windows 7 64-bit?

EDIT: Just noticed higher up in the thread you are using an ATI RADEON card. We have had a lot of issues with cards using non-NVIDIA chips.
YMS96 mentioned this has been resolved but we still see these issues so I believe this is where you have the cause of your problems.

Windows 7 uses quite a bit of RAM, then add in the CAD software. I believe 4GB is 1/2 of what you should have.
We have gone over 10-12GB on one case with Exocad! RAM is cheap as dirt today.

Now, if you have CAM also on that computer, or want to surf some Porn channels....then Fugettabout'it.
You'll need 12-16 or even more RAM. nVidia Card! Power of the Cuda!

Well thanks for the all the reply's,

The processor is a Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz. and Windows 7 64 bit is installed.

Yeah It could be the radeon card but then I see other people using it so who knows if that could be an issue.
There is no scanner connected to this pc, It`s suppose to be for design only.

Yeah I guess I should of gone the route of ordering a pc directly from 3shape. Then I would be able to actually get support.
Although I just can`t justify the cost for a sub par pc.
My mistake to assume that software would install.

Well I got it to install. thanks for the help.

I turned off the firewall, Disabled the radeon video card and used the onboard graphics card.

Now I guess I need to reconnect the Radeon Video card and see if it works.

thanks everyone, Hopefully the software works when I enable the Radeon video card.

*fingers crossed*
