Pre heat in the burnout furnace. Then blast with the casting torch until the
surface is glazed.

Disclaimer: I'm a denture/ jeweler tech so my metal working comes from the jewelry side of things. I heat the new crucibles with a torch then apply borax, then heat again to form glaze.

Crucibles for use with precious metal and palladium use boric acid powder (you can buy at pharmacies)
Crucibles for use with base alloy 'ISO-SPRAY NM' Noble Metal (is a spray that is also used to opacize metal surfaces to be read by the optical scanner

Yea just heat in the burnout furnace then blast it with torch and get your glaze. You don't want to treat it with anything because it will contaminate your metal thus contaminate your proc.
