I'm back in the game from finishing my snow season off a few months ago but alas I'm gone away again for the northern snow season in few weeks time.

Just as I was starting to get into it more, I have to leave but I will be visiting my cousins lab in Sacramento come April and will try and get my hands back into it again.

I will also be going to the IDS? convention in Cologne Germany in March ( I really have no idea why I'm going. I'm not really into teeth that hardcore like some of you guys) and will be sure to take lots of pictures for you guys with all the new multi million dollar milling machines and all the new tech that is coming out of Europe.

Anyways, here are a few random shots of some work that I have done in the past year. I'm open to constructive comments but be gentle as I only do ceramics a few months of the year and have only been doing this the last 5 or 6 years

your work looks nice. i did notice on the photo with the margin marked (in red)that the restoration was either not seated all the way OR you missed the margin altogether. you can make the crowns as pretty as possible but unless that margin is not properly sealed it will leak and it will fail.

You have good eyes Sixonice!. Yes it wasn't seated down all the way when I was taking the pictures. I do all my work under a micro and seal the margin with a mixture of wax and Ceramic and shape the wax/ceram with a hot carver and then fire.

No special techniques are used in the above buildups.
A simple 3 porc build (opacious dentine, dentine and incisal) was used in all the the above pictures.
Tap water as liquid
Staining only in fissures
For my single units: 1 margin fire, 2 baking fires and then a glaze fire.

For my bridges, I might need to take 3 baking fires

When I first started out building, I would add neutrals, clears, effects etc but lately, I've just dumbed it all down for the posteriors

Its actually a pacer lead (clutch pencil?). Its made from wax and I could only find it in a specialty store like a drafting/architecture store or maybe you can find it in an arts and crafts store. It helps me see, marginal ridges and contours/lines etc. Its really good because you can actually stack your porcelain on top of it and it won't contaminate. I'll get the brand of it when I get back to the lab tomorrow and I'll let you know

Hey Vincent, I got the name and company of that red wax pencil.
its 0.5mm diameter
12X60mm leds
Made by Staedtler
On the case it says "Mars Micro Color"

on the back of the case it says
" Art. Nr. 254 05-2"

Good luck in finding it where you are
