Used a variation of the same trick. I like the plaster fill. Hadn't thought of that before.

Inexpensive non-dental products to make economic duplications when the need for duplication doesn't warrant a large investment


Been using the little containers like that for Hydrocolloid dups for years.[edit:for refractory or blocked out working models]
But instead of removing the whole bottom, I just cut off the corners to allow pouring from any of them.

They make such nifty little flasks.
Great control of material use=economic
Good integrity of the mould=less remake
The contsiners are cheap.
On a small scale, you're a rock star.

Now I work where scale seems to dictate hydrocolloid.
The nicest thing I can say is it tends toward temperamental, and I avoid emotional relationships with materials, unless they shut up and make me happy.

I miss the zip locks.
