In general i think its a bad idea.
Another bad idea is when the try-in comes back for a finish with a new round of impression material inside the base plate.
In my experience with that kind of stuff... its almost always a young dentist that does not "really" understand removables yet.
And.. of...
i predict the only real market for "digital dentures"
will be providing duplicate dentures.
from scanning custom dentures made traditionally.
digital duplicate dentures.
just use alginate.
once you get it down it's does just as good a job.
so much faster.
i've got a colloid machine churning night and day.
i would never use it for a dupe.
thanks man i really appreciate that.
that case shows a little trick i picked up along the way.
if wax has been overheated, it loses its color.
so i overheat some and flow it around the upper anteriors before i carve it out.
easy way to make a slight color change.
free or discounted remakes after an a ok on the try in? thats funny.
would be like them picking out the paint color...
then wanting you to repaint the house for free because its the wrong color.
nope.
i think it's a pretty good idea that leaves plenty of room for improvement.
if i were the head of a major tooth manufacturing company, serious about getting a leg up on the enormous competition..
i wouldn't balk at this idea. the docs need a better mould guide. something more useful and helpful...
wax rims extremely shiny?
waste of time.
pre visualise how the set up will most likely end up...
make your wax rims dimensions fit that vision.
then finish them with a flame.
spend your time on what's important, needed and necessary.
I would say be careful of putting too many eggs in one basket. Labor wise.
Replacing the resources of a major lab for 2 employes in a small office space is an idea... but i wouldn't break ties with the lab.
The employee thing may work out. But you need to also envision your situation if it doesn't.
never done it before but if i had to...
i would probably try and set the locater in a small circle of regular acrylic and have that embedded in the valplast with some mechanical retention built around the edges of the circle.
if you have enough room.
not sure if i would trust the metal jacket...
