So the dual platform is nice, but C&B metal articulators can be a challenge when they like to collide in the scanner and sound like a freight train wreck. Here is a simple trick I have been doing for a while now. This will also work with Quad model mounted on plastic vertix articulators.

Step one: Measure the center to center of the plates in the scanner.

Step two: Mark the edge of the bench where your D2000 scan station is.

I made notches in the edge, marker get wiped out easly.

Step three: Mount model on plate and place on marks.

Then turn models 180 and see if they collide, one model, then the other. Only one plate will turn, both plates never turn simultaneously.

Step four: Place in scanner and scan with out a worry.

Enjoy.

Will this method be ok with virtual articulation?
When the situation come where I think the articulator will hit each other, I just do it one by one going back on forth modifying order form..

Virtual articulation, you mean the occlusal setup tool where you just scan and sets the bite? Probably not cause you have to scan it as it is mounted on the setup tool. Sometimes I will scan the solid model on the prep arch and put the opposing in. This way you will definitely have no colliding issues, then scan the bite and align.

I don't use the occlusal setup tool, faster to scan everything, imo. But I have panadent plate calibrated for virtual articulation, for fully adjustable articulated cases virtual articulation will help a lot.
