Hey Carl, the Orion 30 Plus is a great machine for what you're describing. The price point is great and it has enough juice to be able to join most base alloy frames. If you get into a frame that is too thick you may have to cut the fame at a v then after welding, use a fill wire to fill in the v. I'd say you're safe to move forward on it.
