NicelyMKV, how do you like your medit/exocad scanner?.
Love it! Do simple to extremely advanced cases all day long;) full arch, full mouth, very detailed cutbacks, implant abutments, full contour screw retained, full contour anteriors and so on. Wouldn't trade it for anything except a newer model;)

Ok Jason, after seeing this comment from almost a month ago, what made you decide to go with the D900 rather than another Medit Scanner, like the new Identica Blue? I don't mean to put you on the spot but I'm curious to know what contributed to the change. What was the deciding factor?

He (Charles) goes round and round.....

Charles just enjoys shopping....ALOT!

Once he gets 3shape, then he will start shopping all over again.

Never happy. LOL

He wants perfect contacts or ?? and blames the scanner or CAD or ?? (Just busting your balls Charles! LOL)

3shape does nothing that exocad can't do.

Maybe Charles will expand on this theory of mine.......

For Jason....who knows?

exocad is being totally updated very soon. I think Jason is switching sides just as exocad releases a better version. Modeling a tooth and the tools are being re-designed.

Should really make the two almost the same.
I doubt Jason or Charles have seen the new look and it's new tools/functions.

I agree completely!

I, too, am a reseller of exocad. Actually the same software/scanner combination that you offer. DT Technologies?
I've read a lot of your arguments for exocad on previous threads. I feel as strongly as you do when it comes down to comparing exocad to 3shape. There's no argument! I've worked with both systems and they are both great but even aside from price, exocad doesn't have the limitations that 3shape does. Because of this, more manipulating can be done by the end-user with exocad!

Making your own implant library for example?

Freedom to import and export implant libraries?

Bar module is lacking. Cannot angle screw channel.

Just to get started.....?

First qtr this new year, you will see some super-exciting news from exocad!!

I have been asked not to let it out of the bag until Chicago.

Actually, many announcements. Oh I wish I could say what they are...

Jason, you still have your dongle? You may want to get it back.

from 3shapes advanced training website.....

Dental System Control Panel
Fully understanding of the Control Panel architecture and the multiple options of an open system interface, such as:

• Creating Implant Libraries;
• Creating Bar Designs;
• Set up Manufacturing Processes;
• Set up of ERP Interface;
• Set up of Dental Manager Inbox;
• Export/Import of Materials.

Do you know of anyone who created a 3shape library Jason?

I do. It was expensive, took a long time to get approved, and the end result is users having to pay $800 to install it.

Nothing free or easy about it.

Bar module is not as good as exocad IMO. I feel unlimited in the ability to design any shape. ??

I am sure 3shape works, but just not as flexible.

The whole software is getting a makeover very soon.

Better manipulation of full-contour, better initial proposal as well.

Also, you can power your new toy directly from exocad.

That's right.....you understand what I just said. ;)

I think the statement you made was exocad could do it and 3shape could not. You were completely incorrect. Regardless of who you may know etc. , the system is more than capable and "open".....

I was talking about Paublo, owner of DDG who was recently here from Spain.
He was just telling me first hand how that went trying to work with 3shape to add an implant library.
It cannot be added to 3shape scanners without payment. Period. Not at all like exocad.

It cost money to have library added, then each "active" library needs to be added One-by-One by only 3shape. They require payment. I have sold a few license of the DDG library to 3shape owners and know the process Jason. I don;t have to actually own a 3shape scanner to know what I am talking about here.

Why, do you have any real world experience to share with me that says otherwise?

Where are the free or "home-made" implant libraries hiding at?

I never see them discussed here. I do know personally someone who has made One, and I have sold that library....?? But, what do I know? LOL

We have created many libraries in 3Shape. No issues here.
