Jason, I'm unfamiliar with any books relating to that particular issue. My 2cents is your design should be one that would decrease the load, vertical and lateral forces...especially in the posterior. If it's in the position of a 1st molar for ex. then reduce the size of the molar, and narrow the occ surface to reduce forces of mastication.
