These guys are for mainly lower expansion or mixed dentition. Used with a RPE half screw they are popular around here. Simple things, consist of .036 wire and .040 id tube. NiTi open coil spring is placed on the wire side, completely cover the wire, then compress and fix in place with a dead soft ligature wire. Here's a picture of 3 of them, 1 apart, 1 together, and one with the spring and lig wire in place. I deliver them off the model and sealed in a bag.

I don't think I have ever known the name of these, I have seen them before on transfer patients. I guess they transfered from Oregon,LOL. Looks like a nice gentle way of expansion. I make a lot of lower schwartz probably 5-10 a month for one orthodontist.

Looks like a neat contraption.
Cade~ I also make 3 way lower saggitals for 1 orthodontist about 4-6 a month. Some docs don't subscribe to expansion of the mandible.
