What is the benefit of crack detection feature in the press furnace and how does it affect the pressed framework?

It gives the possibility of saving the ring/pressing if it cracks during pressing due to any flaw (micro-cracks in the ring, too much ingot, etc). The press drive disengages keeping it from damaging a framework or pressing further. It's (hopefully) rarely needed. If you're looking for a new press furnace, there are other treads with a lot of info.
