510(k) Premarket Notification (For Implants even?)

Is this a temporary material? No sign of it ever being milled on a 3M mill....only Sirona and E4d as far as I can tell.

Are Dentists now going to be cutting this for final restoration?

This may be what Mark was talking about.

All materials could be considered temporary when you think about it.If it works you can bet it will be used everywhere.

I heard it has been in use for over five years in the Middle East under a different name.

A little bird told me this material will be available very soon to certain labs.

While other labs get left in the dark. I can feel the love from 3M and Jensen and Straumann and Cerec and E4D. NOT.

What the heck ever happened to Lava Plus??

OK, so what is 3M ESPE Elegant? I see that hiding in my software as a material blank, and I see a little bit on the internet? Is this the same material as the new Ultimate?

Maybe just the original name in the Middle East where 3M found this stuff??

(edit...I think it was DVS renamed)

I imagine that this material needs to be wet-milled.

Too bad 3M sold everyone dry-mills and it's a good thing I have the jump on turning my Lava mills into wet-mills.

We milled PMMA yesterday on Lava mill with the Alchohol mist systems and it was great!

Come on Mark....spill the beans.

I was talking to my Jensen rep the other day and she said that Lava Plus was coming out early next year when they launch the new ST2 scanner.

This Lava Ultimate should be better looking and not require sintering.

Lava Plus is too late to the party! LOL

It will be a total waste.

Where exactly would one look to see this info within the software......?

Personally, I think this Lava Ultimate is just a glorified temporary. The surface texture certainly appears that way in the photos. I think the docs will market this as a low cost crown assuming that 3M & Straumann offer it at a reasonable price. If the material cost is too high, then I doubt it will be a big seller when comparing the price & benefits of other ceramic products on the market. You can already get zirconia products at ridiculous prices.
