[QUOTE="denturist-student, post: 118098, member: 5492"] Agree with both of you fellows. And forgive me if I seem too critical. I don't really like splitting hairs...but rather here to learn from those with more experience and that I have done many many times so thanks....With an alginate impression as a final impression there is always over extension therefore with an overextended impression one does not want to use them for a tryin. Rather make a custom tray and use border molded pvs to make good accurate models and then fill those vestibules in....I usually use a stabilized baseplate either Ivolene or Light cured....With a post dam cut already before making the try in the baseplate will roughly follow that pattern. Problem with wax tryins with wax baseplate is that they often distort taking them off the cast...but you guys already know that hense the better to have stabilized baseplates....Even stabilized baseplates are not adapted all that well because they are formed under zero pressure unlike a real compression packed denture.....And you guys are both right....Minor adjustments have to take place because any impression will overextend to some extent. With my limited experience I have never run into any problems with a custom made or light cured baseplate with a waxed up trial denture to establish centric working and balancing and protrusive contacts and then esthetics which are important....Occasionally the Ivolene baseplates distort when releasing them from the cast but wax always distorts.....More and more I am finding that the removables are better served by those who do all of the procedures.....I see frustrations between lab and dentist during most phases of removables. ....with a crown there is a better definition to the borders sitting on the surface of hard tooth enamel. With soft tissue that is not the case. Anyway I think we have both made our points and your explanations have answered any questions I might have....So thanks for that much....An elderly beginner. Take care and keep well. Additionally you work is really really good and shows a highly competent level of artistic and technical skill far surpassing my own....Perhaps when my own waxups meet your caliber I can post mine too but then I might not live long enough to get good enough like you are....
