Hey everyone, my employer has some scrap metal hes sending out to get refined, recycled, assayed, or whatever you would call it.
Anyway, my employers have half an ounce of unused white gold dental alloy that they planned on sending as well. I told them it may not be a good
idea to throw the perfectly pure alloy ingots in to the refiner.
Any suggestions on where to sell these 11 pennyweights left of white gold without going to the pawn shop, jewlery store, or sending it to argen?

Send it to me, I'll make sure it's taken care of properly.

Well, the company told us this, which seems strange.

"Dont send us the ingots. Melt them or beat them with a hammer and make them look used and you will get more money that way."

Could someone please make some sort of sence of that?

What, if anything, is worth more broken and smashed?

Is this a rep saying what she was told to say?

Seems like they want us to destroy pure alloy so they can pay less for it.

Doug, what do you have to say about that?
PS is that your leg? :)

Marcus- probably has to do with the whole "sale regulated to dental professionals by federal law" type of thing. Post the alloy ident info and see who uses it. They may give you a much larger return for the dwt and it's a win/win.

First option would be to use the last half ounce of alloy. Your best profit will be that way (as long as you didn't buy it 10 years ago at $200/oz. :) ) As far as scrapping it, I had some d.sign 53 that was hanging around, and I just sent the chips, I was never aware that "Used Ingots" are worth more
