Are there any hi-tech dental labs in NC. I would like to visit a lab that is invested in CAD/CAM, whether for ortho or crown and bridge. The closer to Raleigh Durham, the better.

Haven't bought one as of today........There is one lab that had the Digital Dental - Dental Mill, installed several weeks ago in NC,,, There are 2 local labs that have the cerec inlab. One lab in the Raleigh area with the Cercon.
I will have a scanner in about 4 weeks.....hopefully trained by then.

John, I will probably order it in the next day or two..........I've spent so much time researching this crap, I would have to kill you if I told you what I'm ordering, and why this brand. Since you spent so much time trying to talk me out of it, haha I will tell you, but keep it to yourself !
iMetric D62 or D102i for implants with Delcam software.....
Lower price than 3shape, almost half update yearly cost, great anatomy software, and as easy to use as the 3shape, and better in some ways.....

Kara,
Drake Dental lab in Charlotte, probably the only lab to visit, as far as a large cad/cam lab.........the lab with the new Dental Mill, I think its in the Raleigh area !
Call Digital Dental and ask for Kim or Cameron, they can tell you where they installed their DentalMill.

Sherer Dental Lab in Rock Hill SC. (one minute from Charlotte)
Go check out 3D Systems while your at it, if you haven't already done so.

Cercon, Lava, Dental Wings, Envisiontec

We mill Lava for them everyday.

Don't expect much tech talk.

They really only know the basics. (data points? What's that?)

I spent some time there training them on the 3M stuff.

What questions do ya have? Maybe I could save you a trip?

Even though NC has Research Tri, big companys, nice schools....the general population down there seems scared of technology IMO. Maybe just too poor to invest? The opposite of California fur shoure!:D
They still like Chewing tobacco! Does that count for any thing?

Kara, do you guys have any file converters for the Dental Industry yet?
I'm about to buy some software from Italy that seems cool as beans.
May buy the CAM as well. PM me if ya know what I'm talk'n'bout.
Holler back now!

Scott

Kara,

I can't help with a lab in your area but would be willing to answer any questions I could as well. Just PM or call (425) 495-2925.

I stand corrected....apparently 3Shape has named their files ".dcm", but they are not in anyway related to the true medical .dcm DICOM files. I don't know why 3 Shape named theirs the same, although I can imagine. Sorry for getting everyone excited. You could always try our software. If their output is in points it will work. If it is in polygons, it won't, and it is probably in polygons.
Sorry guys,
k
