my model dept. has been using the same dowel pins since the beginning of time and now the supplier says that the manufacturer that they get the pins from no longer makes them in nickel plated only aluminum. also the new pins are 22mm and the old ones were 20. so if we use these we will have models sitting 2mm off of their base because the forms we use were designed for 20mm. does anyone know where we can order 20mm nickel plated pins? we have searched around but without any luck.......

try the Renfert Bi-Pin with Red rubber shoe. should be real close if not spot on 20mm

we used to use those, but for dual arch cases we found them to be too tall to fit in our articulation, so we switched to the cheaper (and just as effective) Bi-V pin with plastic sleeve+red shoe.

it helped. at least gave some room for plaster in the articulator.

i dont like the 22mm pins they corrode over time(they are aluminum) in the base stone. also i have a large inventory of base forms it would be several hundred dollars to replace them
