According to 3shape2014 manual : if the collide design is enabled( if there are no sufficient original teeth in the scans to support the movement of jaws|)

My understanding is we can use collide designs if there are no both side canine guidance to give a right movement of jaws.

that's not really the point of Collide Designs.

as a general premise it is better to have the full arch for best movement accuracy, and the less of the jaw that you have, the less useful Collide Designs is going to be.

for example: you have a full arch case. you want to hold the bite at the correct opening while moving, so you would NOT check the box for Collide Designs because the software will try to force the jaws closed to move them side to side.

by contrast in the case of a single tooth scan Collide designs will attempt to more fully close the bite before attempting to move the jaws through excursion.

this is great if you can see that the bite was scanned a tiny bit open. in the majority of cases i have found that 3shape nearly always shows a bite between .1 and .3 open, but the software attempts to close that gap when Collide designs is checked off.

so UNcheck it for large cases, and keep it checked for small ones.

edited for clarification: the virtual atriculator will move the designs in ONE of two ways: either move them following the settings of the virtual articulator, or move them based on the relationship of the jaws. in the case where existing teeth are present adjacent to the prep you want to Enable the Collide designs, and utilize the patients natural wear facets to guide movement of the jaws. you DO NOT want to enable this setting for cases where you are attempting to create a whole arch of function. the software will overclose the bite and your restorations will be too far out the the opened bite.
