Hi guys...

When I design a FC lingual on anteriors, down in the margin of inter-proximal area, the red line always overlaps the margin offset...I then begin to chase it. The rel line is like a wet noodle. I always end up reinitializing and trying again. Anybody having issues with the cut-back red line?

2014 version

Thanks

never had that problem. when doing a full contour lingual i draw the lingual like a rainbow. first a small lingual like a metal collar, then draw halfway up, then go to the incisal. depending the preferences for contacts, i redraw the line to incorporate metal contacts or redraw to have them in porcelain.

i'm not really sure what problem you are referencing. screenshot would be nice :D

we dont seem to have any problems with cutback designs either.... only one we wish we could do is microlayer cutback

don't draw straight down to the margin. if you do, stop about halfway down, and draw a curve from that point to the margin.

as i have a few copings today, i'll draw one for you.

Adjust the spline a little at a time. If you try to go the full route, it screws up...

I don't bother with the cut back any more,

I design in full contour and do a manual cutback with the subtract button.
I find that just cutting back the incisal is all you need to do with zirconia these days.

My pfz's are at least 2/3rds zir.

I would always use the global transformers to create cuckbacks and anatomical frames. Always utilizing the orientation of the restoration on the screen, and letting the tool snap into the edge was such a great friggin tool.

same, we don't cut all the way back....easier to just make a coping.

We bring it right up to where opposing will touch when going into rotation and protrusive movements, and then cut it.

I dont. I start mid tooth at the marginal ridge. That is the result??? weird eh?

I start at the margin on one of the interproximal, then draw upwards and back down the lingual then draw from the middle down the other side. I will post a video of how I do it, stupid easy and fast with a 3D mouse. Then you can right click on the margin line and edit spline and move by the dots or hit and hold the control button and scroll the diameter of the circle down and edit the margin in a smaller area without having it get all crazy on you.
